Tancredi Victorian Guest House

Journey back in time when you visit us in Pietermaritzburg (PMB), KwaZulu-Natal.

When this gracious home was restored, many of the original features were preserved, such as the wooden floorboards, high ceilings and claw-foot bathtubs. For convenience, it’s been updated with modern en-suite bathrooms and high speed internet. Furnishings are tasteful with charming antique notes.

Over many years, our Bed & Breakfast has earned a reputation for friendliness and going out of their way for guests.
Many become part of the family and visit us again.

We want this experience for all our guests!

Pietermaritzburg: the City and Elephants

There is so much interesting history associated with this long-standing house.

The area that the city is built on was originally called “uMgungundlovu“ by the Zulu people. This means “Place of the Elephant”, or “The elephant wins”. Today, it’s called Pietermaritzburg. The beautiful Zulu name “uMgungundlovu“ is now the name of the district municipality PMB is found in.

Come and sit on the stoep at Tancredi and experience the comfort of years gone by, when the pace of life was slower and the rusks were home-made …

Tancredi And Sport

We’re named after Louis Tancredi, who played cricket for South Africa in the early 1900s.

Scottsville is positioned close to major sport events:

  • Comrades marathon
  • Duzi Canoe Race
  • Midmar Mile

Many sporty guests become part of our family and return year after year.
Don’t miss out!

What Do Business Travelers Love?

They love being so close to the city centre. It’s a short, easy drive.

Many business people come to work in Maritzburg and find larger places too big and impersonal.

We have lots of experience with business travelers.

We understand that you value quiet and help with special requests.
